Paul Hormis has worked in the 3D industry for nearly 20 years. In the late eighties, he was the owner of Chicago Computer Animation where he created various animations for corporate videos and presentations. He took models from Pro-Engineer and Autodesk Mechanical Desktop and imported them into 3D Studio for product visualization animations as well as taking Architectural Models and Drawings to create walk/fly-throughs.

From 1995 to 1998, Paul worked as an Application Engineer at Autodesk – Kinetix – Discreet. Paul played an integral part of the Alpha and Beta test process and recommendations for new features with 3D Studio. He was the first Support Specialist to support 3DS Max. This included various levels of support from installation and hardware advice to high-level animation support to high-level customers.

From 1998 to 2002, Paul worked as Cinematic Artist / 3D Animator at Blizzard Entertainment where he worked on Diablo 2, Diablo 2 Expansion, Warcraft 3, and World of Warcraft. From 2002 to 2004, Paul worked as the Lead Character Rigger & Cloth Specialist, MaxScript Programmer and 3D Artist / 3D Animator at Blur Studio where he worked on Punisher, Bloodrayne, Everquest 2 and Spiderman just to name a few.

Paul specifically worked as a character rigger and was tasked with developing a new character rigging pipeline. Paul was also instrumental in developing a cloth simulation pipeline that allowed Blur to run cloth simulations over the network which allowed them to use cloth more frequently.

From 2004 to 2005, Paul worked as the Lead TD & MaxScript Programmer where he developed and supported a new pipeline. He created tools that would be used specifically for that pipeline as well as developing a new custom rigging pipeline while rigging all main characters.

He is well skilled in many other applications including: 3D Studio, 3ds Max, 3ds MaxScript, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premier, Vegas Video, DVD Architect, Digital Fusion and AutoCAD.

Currently he is the CEO/Owner of Hyperbolic Enterprises Inc.

In addition, it was good to know that Paul was willing to go the extra distance to make sure people got what they wanted in terms of info. I appreciate that he took the extra time to cover some extra, related info that wasn't exactly in the course curriculum. ."
