Martijn has been using 3dsmax professionally for over 10 years, focusing primarily on special effects, particles and MAXScript. MAXScript has been Martijn’s primary tool since its introduction in 3dsmax release 2. During that time he has used it extensively in writing various in-house scripts and in the development of a range of free tools that are used by 3dsmax users all over the world.

After studying illustration in Rotterdam, Martijn joined MCW Studios where he worked on various projects ranging from TV commercials to small Dutch film productions.

In 2003 Martijn and Joel Hooks founded Crashvisuals, a US based company specializing in forensic animation. Martijn’s main responsibilities in Crashvisuals are data analysis and simulation. In the course of this work he has written numerous maxscripts and facilitated the reading of blackbox data into 3dsmax to generate graphs and animations.

During the last few years, Martijn also worked on various freelance jobs ranging from conventional illustration to PHP programming for content management systems.

Clients Martijn has worked for include Philip Morris, O2, Stimorol, MTV, Playboy, Zanussi, TsingTao, EMSD, Shell and various Dutch TV stations.

MAXScript
with Martijn van Herk

In this eight week workshop Martijn van Herk will introduce students to the fundamentals required to realize the full potential of MAXScript. Students will also learn to utilize its broad range of features.

This collaborative course will assist artists and animators with no prior knowledge gain a basic understanding of the power of the language. The course will also be invaluable to those proficient in other scripting languages wishing to gain a good working knowledge of MAXScript.
